You report to the Learning & Development Manager and will assist in developing an overall internal Learning & Development plan in all our European markets.
You are passionate about the newest L&D trends, and you have experience with creating e-learning from scratch in an LMS environment. New technologies and software don’t scare you as you are a quick learner. You are an organized and structured person who follows-up thoroughly on the training administration with our employees.


The Learning & Development department has 2 major internal clients: Operations (> 500 employees) and the Support Centers (> 120 employees). The learning programs for Operations often differ from the training paths at the Support Centers.
You are in charge of constantly updating, reshaping and modernizing the Shurgard Academy as the company evolves and internal processes change. You are the go-to-person when employees have issues with the training or performance tool. You will evaluate off-the-shelf learning content that we can purchase from our suppliers and report on the quality.


You like numbers as well and are eager to tilt the HR department to the next level in terms of HR Reporting and HR Analytics. 

You promote continuous learning and actively foster an environment that encourages continuous professional development and knowledge sharing among staff.


LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!

Learning and Development responsibilities (90%):

  • You develop training & training strategies: Create comprehensive training strategies that align with company goals and regulatory requirements. This includes identifying skill gaps and developing tailored programs to address these needs.
  • You evaluate Training Effectiveness: Regularly assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback surveys, quizzes, and observing job performance, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes.
  • You manage various Training Programs: you oversee a diverse range of training programs, including H&S, operations training, soft skills training and leadership development. This includes planning, organizing, and monitoring these programs to ensure they meet our quality standards and operational needs.
  • You administer our e-learning platform, ensuring it is up-to-date, user-friendly, and effective.
  • You provide support to the organization in utilizing this platform, maximizing its potential as a training tool. Providing reports/documentation as needed for the group or auditors.
  • You manage the administration of our training programs from start to finish. This encompasses coordinating schedules, tracking participant progress, and ensuring all training activities are documented and reported accurately.
  • You follow-up on training fundings (Cevora, VoV) and the federal learning account obligations.
  • You follow up on the latest L&D trends and report on your findings.
  • You help with the administration of learning dashboards and production of learning reports.

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU

Learning and Development responsibilities (90%) - continued:

  • You produce engaging online learning materials and activities, including the development of The Academy Online offer, championing innovative learning solutions, formats, and optimization of the LMS features.
  • You have excellent graphic skills and with your creative mind, you transform slides and e-learnings into visually attractive and interactive development tools
  • Talent Development: coordination of all F2F and Online Academy initiatives, live online learning sessions set-up, onsite animations, virtual activity moderation, coordination, speaker booking, invitations, enrollment, communications, and reporting.
  • You handle the administration linked to our Performance tool.
  • You help manage company-related events such as the Annual Sales Conference, HR Conferences, HQ parties etc.).
  • You support the HR team with organizing employee engagement activities/events and team events.
  • You support the employer branding projects (posters, gadgets, incentives) and HR projects.

Internal communication responsibilities (10%):

  • You are the main internal communication point of contact for all Operations and Support Centers
  • You assist with the optimization of the internal communication channels and format.
  • You support the L&D Manager with change management activities and change communications.
  • You assure translations and are the first point of contact of our translation agencies.
  • You take ownership and produce content for Shurgard's intranet and for the communication screens at the Brussels office.
  • You manage the issuing of internal communication emails such as staff announcements, reports, policy changes, ad hoc alerts (changes Shurguide, Staff Get Togethers, OPS Support notifications, etc.).

  • You are creative, you dare to think outside of the box.
  • You are a strong communicator.
  • You have excellent writing skills.
  • You are fluent in English, French and/or Dutch. Any other market language is considered a plus.
  • You are highly organized and service minded with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • You possess broad instructional design skills, solid knowledge of at least one Learning Management System, visual design skills (Photoshop, Canva) and ability to storyboard, and video editing
  • You are an administrative octopus.
  • You are tech-savvy and feel at ease working with different L&D or HR systems.
  • You have a problem-solving attitude.
  • You show flexibility and are open to change.
  • You can work independently and complete work to deadlines.
  • You work effectively as a team member.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROFILE!

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • You have an excellent working knowledge of MS365 (Office365, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • You are at ease with new technologies and are eager to learn different software packages.
  • You must have strong skills in Excel and Power BI.
