The Group Financial Controller & Treasury is responsible for the consolidation, preparation and control of periodical and yearly stand-alone and group financial statements, maintaining and controlling the accounts of the group’s holding and financing companies, and optimizing Shurgard’s cash management and treasury function.
You report to the Director of Reporting, Planning & Analysis.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!
Group reporting and Control
- You have end-responsibility for the consolidation, preparation and control of the periodical and yearly stand-alone and group financial statements.
- You control the accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, respecting the due dates and deadlines set.
- You are the in-house IFRS expert, making recommendations through memorandums on the accounting and reporting of complex or unusual transactions. You also oversee specific GAAP retreatments, such as accounting for leases, stock options or pensions.
- You support M&A activities and post-deal integration into the reporting package.
- You prepare and submit quarterly financial reporting package to Group’s external stakeholder.
- You support the calculation and reporting of deferred taxes in close collaboration with the Director of Tax.
- You manage periodical recharge of expenses from the central support centers to the operating companies.
- You act as a key contact for external auditors during the periodical and yearly audits.
Corporate Accounting of Holding & Financing entities
- You have end-responsibility for accurate accounting, control and preparation of the financial statements for our Guernsey and Luxemburg-based holding and financing companies.
- You review monthly and yearly VAT tax return for these entities.
- You are the spokesperson for Shurgard’s auditors with regard to the coordination, preparation and sign-off of these accounts.
Treasury
- You oversee the cash pooling transactions within the group, and you are responsible for the internal and external financing of the group.
- You manage the operational relationship with the banks and manage the convenants reporting.
- You prepare periodical cash forecasts and ensure Shurgard’s cash is utilized and invested in the most efficient way.
- You oversee FX risk management and exposure monitoring.
Process and systems
- You are responsible for the correct set up and maintenance of Shurgard’s consolidation software application (HFM), as well as the related ITGC controls.
- You ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
- You establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
- You contribute to the improvements of the business reporting systems and tools.
- You participate on an ad hoc basis in group-wide projects on financial management or systems development.
